If you’ve had your eye on the NX and still remain undecided, Lexus of Akron-Canton is here to help. We’ve taken the time to compare the Lexus NX side-by-side against two of its top rivals the Range Rover Evoque and the Mercedes-Benz GLB. Let’s take a closer look to see which of these three luxury SUV’s comes out on top.

For our first comparison, we’re looking at the Range Rover Evoque, the smallest of the Range Rover models. The 2.4-liter engine in the NX is just a bit bigger than the one in the Evoque, and the difference in power is enough that you’ll notice. Yet, thanks to the advanced drivetrain technology used by Lexus, the NX also gets superior fuel economy. The NX comes with more interior space as well, with more legroom for both rows of seats. You’ll find a bit more space behind the back seats in the NX as well, so that extra legroom doesn’t come at the expense of cargo space.

The Evoque starts off a bit pricier than the NX, which is why we’re using the more similarly priced 350 Premium trim of the NX. The Evoque still costs a bit more, so you might expect it to be better equipped, since that extra money certainly isn’t going to improve performance. But take a closer look, and you’ll see the NX comes out ahead here too. For example, while both vehicles come with heated front seats, ventilation for those seats is only standard on the NX. And although both vehicles have a power liftgate, only the NX comes with a hands-free kick sensor. The Fullsize Range Rover and the midsize Range Rover Sport are both offered with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, but the Evoque isn’t offered with any kind of electrification. The NX, on the other hand, is offered with both a PHEV drivetrain option and a conventional hybrid option. Both vehicles have adaptive cruise control, but the GPS-linked cruise control in the NX can also anticipate curves in the road and slow down. If your vehicle has been sitting in the hot sun for a long time, it’s good to have a way to ventilate it a bit before getting in, and with the NX you can use the sunroof controls on the keyfob, but no such option exists for the Evoque. And lastly, the cost of your first routine maintenance visit is covered in the cost of the vehicle with the NX, but the more expensive Evoque doesn’t offer any included maintenance.

Up next, we have the Mercedes-Benz GLB. This model makes for an especially good comparison because, when equipped with all-wheel drive (which is standard on the NX), the GLB is almost exactly the same price as the NX. Power is a very different story, though, with the NX enjoying a clear advantage. This extra power isn’t the only reason why the NX will out-tow the GLA, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.

The NX once again comes with a very clear equipment advantage, despite the price similarity. From comfort to safety, standard features on the NX that will cost you extra from Mercedes-Benz include heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, and lane keeping assist. The GLB comes with an 8-speaker stereo system, which falls a couple of speakers short of the 10-speaker system in the NX, but those looking to upgrade will see an even bigger advantage in the NX. The premium option for the NX comes with more speakers and a considerably more impressive output. Lastly, the included maintenance for the NX is once again easily beats the lack of anything of the sort from the competitor.
