Lexus RX

About The New Lexus RX

The Lexus RX defines what a luxury SUV should be, and it has since it was first introduced. The RX achieved this status thanks to its well-appointed interior, advanced drivetrain options, and refined road manners. The sophisticated styling hints at the refinement and luxury that comes with driving the RX. An emphasis was put on handling and cabin ergonomics, making an SUV that’s so easy to drive that you don’t know where you end and the RX begins. It’s this feeling that made the RX such a sales hit, and its continuous evolution keeps it way out in front of the rest of its segment.

What the Critics Say

“The RX's interior design is more modern than the last-generation model, with textured fabric sections on the upper door panels, rich-looking ambient lighting, and open-pore wood trim on RX350 models. The RX500h F Sport Performance features more heavily bolstered front seats, black interior trim, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and aluminum pedals. Cargo space is generous behind the second-row seats, so there's plenty of space for a big load of groceries or several suitcases when road-tripping.” — Car & Driver

“We’re big fans of the latest Toyota/Lexus infotainment system. With a screen up to 14.0 inches in size, the RX offers up a bright, crisp example that can accept multiple input methods. Touch is of course one main choice, but the improved audio assistant makes it easy to ask for directions, which then show on the available head-up display. Wireless phone pairing for both major platforms is a big win too.” — AutoGuide

What’s New For 2025

Most of the RX carries over unchanged from last year, but Lexus did introduce a new trim level, the F Sport Design, which slots in between the 350 Luxury and the 350 F Sport Handling. This offers a lower-priced way to get all of the F Sport-specific design features, including the 21-inch wheels and a power moonroof.

Lexus RX Features

Lexus RX

Evolved Styling

There are familiar elements to the design of the new RX, the L-shaped exterior lights and large spindle grille are Lexus design trademarks, but these are presented in a cutting-edge new design. The exterior lights are full LED and the taillights are now joined together with a full bar across the back. The spindle grille has a new look too, one we haven’t seen on any Lexus previously. The body sits lower and has a much more athletic look to it, a hint of what Lexus has in store in the performance department. Inside, soft ambient light bathes a redesigned interior that has an elegantly simple and uncluttered design.

Choice of Powertrains

Choice has always been a strength of the Lexus RX, and a long list of available trim levels and powertrains shows that this generation of the RX will continue this strength. For the RX 350 and RX 350 F Sport Handling, there is a 2.4-liter turbocharged I4 engine that produces 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. This is available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. For the RX 350h, there is a 2.5-liter I4 mated to a hybrid system that produces a combined 246 horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque. For the RX 350h, All Wheel Drive is standard. Whichever powertrain you choose, both the RX 350 and the RX 350h are then available in Premium, Premium+, and Luxury Trims - each contributing additional luxury and technology to your Lexus RX. The most efficient of the drivetrains is found in the RX 450h+, a plug-in hybrid that also comes with a potent 304 horsepower.

For those craving the maximum adrenaline available in the RX Line-up, there is the RX 500h F Sport Performance, which combines the 2.4-liter turbocharged I4 from the RX 350 with a performance-tuned hybrid system. The result is 367 system horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, with AWD as standard.

Lexus RX Interior

Advanced Technology

The integration of advanced technology was a driving force behind the design of the RX, and you will notice this every time you drive the RX. Triple-beam LED headlights help you see the outside, while thematic ambient illumination provides unobtrusive lighting on the interior. The new Lexus Interface system is available on a 9.8-inch or optional 14-inch touchscreen and gives you access to Drive Connect with Cloud Navigation, Intelligent Assistant, and Destination Assist. Options like Advanced Park and Traffic Jam Assist are available to make for a less stressful driving experience.
