What's New For 2024

The GX was completely redesigned for 2024. It still serves the same purpose, as a luxury offroader, but it is now much improved. The new styling gives it a much more rugged and utilitarian look, and the interior has been thoroughly modernized and made more user-friendly. Offroad capability is more impressive than ever, and there is a new engine under the hood. This twin-turbo V6 puts out noticeably more power than the outgoing V8, and you’ll absolutely feel it when you put your foot down.

Unmatched Capability

The Lexus GX is built using body-on-frame construction, on the same platform as the Toyota 4Runner and Tundra. This is part of the reason why it offers such impressive offroad capability, but it doesn’t end there. The GX is powered by a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 that makes 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. That’s some serious power, and it gives the GX the ability to tow up to 9,096 pounds.

Putting that power to the ground is standard full-time 4WD with a lockable Torsen® limited-slip center differential, and the available Adaptive Variable Suspension aids traction on any surface. Every version of the GX offers impressive capability, but the Overtrail and Overtrail+ trims take it even further, with standard equipment like 33-in all-terrain tires, a Panoramic View Monitor with Multi-Terrain Monitor, and Crawl Control. These trims also don’t have a third row of seats, to make room for more cargo.

Luxury Experience

For the utility that comes with the GX, it is equally impressive in the luxury department. The interior is spacious, with comfortable seats for seven, or six if you opt for the second-row captain’s chairs. A moonroof is standard, and there is an available Dynamic Sky™ panorama glass roof to let in even more natural light. Ambient lighting is standard, with most trims getting standard thematic ambient lighting.

The infotainment system runs on the advanced Lexus Interface operating system, which uses a large 14-inch touchscreen to make it easy to see what you’re doing, and to read maps while navigating. There is also an available head-up display to allow you to better keep your eyes on the road. The standard 10-speaker Lexus Premium Sound System is already more impressive than what you’ll find in a lot of vehicles, but the available Mark Levinson® 21-speaker, 1,800-watt Premium Surround Sound really pushes the audio experience to a whole other level. And even on the coldest days, the available fast-response interior heater will get the cabin to a comfortable temperature right away.

Bold Design

Even with all of the impressive offroad capability and the luxurious interior, it’s impossible to overlook just how good-looking the GX is. The modern design at once conveys both offroad ability and sophistication. The design of the interior shares this duality, it’s easy to get in and out of, and the NuLuxe® upholstery is easy to clean, but it’s also supremely comfortable and well-appointed. The standard Triple-Beam LED headlamps and available LED foglights also manage to be stylish while making for excellent visibility. The large wheel arches accommodate either the available 22-inch wheels or the available 18-inch wheels with 33-inch all-terrain tires, depending on what you want to use the GX for. Available bi-tone paint sets the GX apart in the style department even more.
