J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study
The annual J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study1 is one of the most extensive of its kind in the industry. Scores are determined by the number of problems per 100 vehicles made by a given brand (known as a PP100 score) over a three-year period, with problems listed in nine different categories. The lower the number, the better the reliability. The industry average is 186 PP100, but this number is higher for luxury brands, at 205 PP100. Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards
While reliability isn’t the sole driver of resale value for mass-market brands, it’s certainly one of the biggest factors.
